The Siringit Vision

At Siringit we believe that your memories should matter, that our collective travel print should be conscious to benefit communities in Tanzania and inspire opportunity for economic empowerment.

We value community and respect for people and nature, which are fundamental to Tanzanian culture.

That’s why we started Siringit Foundation. Through the Foundation, we can give back to the community and the environment, in order for us to show you this beautiful country and everything it has to offer. We work on four cornerstones: education, reforestation, conservation and sustainability.

We hire and source locally, and it’s important to us to include local cultures in the Siringit experience. That’s why you’ll have the opportunity to hear stories from Maasai warriors around the campfire - they play a key role in guest security and
protection.

We believe that education is the key to empowering communities and empowering people out of poverty. Every child has a right to education. It is the water that will make a child’s dream a reality in the future.

And we want to give back to nature and the communities, in order to keep our footprint as small as possible.

Investing in Education

Every child has a right to proper education and we firmly believe that this is the key for securing a brighter future. Our priority is to give as many children as possible access to education through our sponsorship program.

By investing in education, creating a safe inspiring environment for children to learn about wildlife and conservation, and providing children with a basic right to a quality education, we provide the nourishment for the trees of the future to grow.

Currently, Siringit Foundation provides support for children and students to ensure their continued enrolment in school and access to educational opportunities. We cover various expenses, including school materials (such as exercise books, pens and pencils), school uniforms, remedial classes, cooked school lunches and emergency medical fees (in the event of hospitalization at school), among other essentials. Throughout time there are sponsored students who have reached secondary education and even college and university.

Next to the sponsorship program, we support Baraa Primary School, a governmental school located in Arusha. This collaboration began in 2009, initially through a Belgian NGO called iThemba, of which the owner of Siringit is also a founder.
The primary focus at the start was to enhance the school’s infrastructure by constructing new classrooms, sanitary facilities, a library, a computer room, and providing essential supplies such as books and stationery. These efforts aimed to create improved learning conditions for the children attending the school.

For the future, our aim is to surround our sponsored students as much as we can on different subjects, to make them grow stronger and help them to have an impact on their community in their turn.

And you can help us with that! You can sponsor a child, to give them access to education. Or you can give a donation to Siringit Foundation, so we can continue our work.

How you can help us help

Sponsor a student

Give a student access to quality education with our sponsorship program.

Give the chance to a student to enroll in a private school. We pay the school fees, uniforms and school materials; and we stay close to the student and their family to keep them motivated and reach as far as possible.

Donate a Giftpack

By purchasing these packages, you can provide support to a child (and their family) but also contribute to the sustainability our mission.

Each package is thoughtfully curated to meet the unique needs and interests of sponsored children at different stages of their lives.

Pack-for-a-Purpose

Each Siringit property works with the Pack-for-a-Purpose initiative, in which guests take supplies to community based projects in the area they’re visiting.

The supply lists for destinations on this website are provided directly by the local community-based that receive and use the supplies, enabling travelers to make informed decisions and to take items that meet the needs of those who will be using them.

Investing in (Re)Forestation

Tourism, and daily life in Tanzania has a profound impact on nature. Forests are disappearing at an alarming rate, leading to dried-up rivers, melting glaciers on Mount Kilimanjaro, and the endangerment of countless plant and animal species. At Siringit Foundation, we believe protecting these ecosystems is vital for future generations.

We know we can’t do this alone. That’s why we’ve partnered with The Kilimanjaro Project, a dedicated reforestation initiative that shares our vision of a greener, more sustainable future. They focus on planting indigenous trees in the riparian zones of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, restoring watersheds and biodiversity. With two nurseries and a large seedbank, they can grow up to 100,000 trees per season per nursery, all planted in strategic ways that restore and protect forest ecosystems.

A special focus lies on saving the Prioria Msoo, a rare and endangered tree species native to the Kilimanjaro region. The Kilimanjaro Project has successfully collected over 150kg of seeds, nurturing more than 10,000 seedlings to help this unique tree survive.

At Siringit Foundation, we’ve already planted 100 trees, and we’ve committed to growing more: one tree for every new student sponsorship we welcome. Through this initiative, education and sustainability go hand in hand.

You too can be part of this effort: grow a tree to give back to nature, for example one tree per night you stay in Tanzania.

Investing in Conservation

As part of our ongoing commitment to conservation, the Siringit Foundation has partnered with Friends of Serengeti Switzerland (FSS), a long-standing NGO that has made significant contributions to wildlife protection across the Serengeti and other national parks throughout Tanzania. This collaboration enables us to jointly support impactful conservation initiatives that benefit both wildlife and the communities living alongside them.

Thanks to the generous support of the Siringit Foundation, including the most recent donation of vital veterinary drugs and a dart gun. FSS, in partnership with TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks Authority), has been able to respond rapidly to wildlife emergencies in the Tarangire-Manyara Ecosystem. These efforts have included treating snared, injured, or sick animals and safely relocating lions involved in human-wildlife conflict.

A core focus of our partnership in the Serengeti is the future protection of rhinos, an iconic and critically endangered species heavily affected by poaching. Together, we will begin funding anti-poaching patrols, enhancing ranger infrastructure, and a continuation of specific projects presented by our experienced partners. Our shared goal is to ensure the Serengeti and its surrounding ecosystems remain a safe haven for rhinos and other vulnerable species for generations to come.

We are committed to the long-term, and together with FSS, we are always seeking new ways to protect and serve the wildlife of Tanzania. You can help too, every donation makes a difference.

Investing in Sustainability

We are deeply committed to sustainable practices that reduce our ecological footprint while also supporting local communities and protecting the wild landscapes of Tanzania.

We prioritize locally sourced and durable materials, such as recycled metal and stretch canvas, provide refillable water bottles and glass amenities, and invest in renewable energy and energy-efficient infrastructure.

To tackle the environmental impact of waste, we’ve partnered with Okota and Chanzi, two innovative projects working on waste management in East-Africa.

Through this partnership:

  • Inorganic waste (like plastics and glass) is collected, sorted, and recycled into raw materials by Okota, which are used again in new products.
  • Organic food waste is transformed by Chanzi into high-protein animal feed and organic fertilizer using the Black Soldier Fly.
Thanks to this process, almost 100% of our waste is recycled, avoiding landfills entirely.

And the results speak for themselves: in just a few months, our partnership helped save trees, preserve water and energy, and divert hundreds of kilos of waste from landfills. Monthly reports provide us with measurable insights into our environmental footprint and how we’re actively reducing it.

Our collaboration with Chanzi is a powerful example of how luxury hospitality and sustainability can go hand in hand with real, tangible results.
